Nike's Little Fantasies...

Hey ladies, what do you think of this video? I think it's the most sexist ad I've ever seen Nike put out. It definitely says a whole lot about how they see females, and it's not about our love for kicks! And I bet they spent more on this one video than they have EVER spent on marketing women's sneakers...

for the love of Nike

Another talented femalesneakerfiend artist out there is the woman who's running fortheloveofnike.com. The site is an ode to Nike, and includes a nice mix of her photography and drawings. Not a new releases site, but another site full of the passion of sneaker culture...

Nike is looking for a female sneaker fiend!

Nike Sportswear is hunting for a new Global Product Line Manager for women’s footwear, and they’ve come to femalesneakerfiend to find one... Could it be you?

Do you…

  • read enough blogs and magazines to know footwear trends for the USA and world market?
  • have the confidence to manage consumer focus groups, really listen to what girls want, and represent them at key events?
  • have the passion to help define the market place and propose a complete product line that will grab the attention of women across the globe?
  • have the people skills to ensure integration between Footwear, Apparel and Equipment?
  • have the brains, drive and commitment to jump feet first into this job, learn quickly and work your butt off to make NSW even better?
  • Have the sense of adventure to move to Portland AND to travel around the US and world up to 25% of the time?

If you want to work for Nike, you can't be shy about it, you can’t be humble about it, you have to go for it and go hard. Passion is contagious and undeniable; you can't fake it and you can't learn it. Somebody might have more experience or a higher degree, but do you have more knowledge about women and kicks? More drive, flair, humor and hustle? If you are serious, if you are genuinely interested in this opportunity, then follow the link below, and tell ‘em you’re a female sneaker fiend!

NBA All-Star Game Heat from Nike

As always, Nike is treating us to some special releases for the upcoming NBA All-Star game. Here's what will be on the feet of Lebron, Kobe and Kevin Durant.

My favorites were the All Star Lebron 8 V2s... just gorgeous.

The Kobe VIs with special All Star box. They don't stand out from his other VIs as much as I would expect, although the hologram on the tongue is cool. (All 3 of these shoes have holograms on the tongue featuring the player's logo and the East/West logo.)

The Nike Zoom KD IIIs (aka, Durants) were extremely lightweight, although the look and feel was too plastic-y for me.

The beauty of the box was hard for this amateur photographer to capture. It has a striped plastic casing, so when you pull the box out of the sleeve, it appears animated! Great use of old school animation technology. Nice touch for a game played next door to Hollywood...

Nike WMNS Dunk Hi Skinny Premium "Tartan"

Ahh…nothing says spring like Lacoste polos and Madras shorts, so why not rock Madras pattern on your feet? As of late Nike Sportswear has been coming up with bold designs for women. I’ve had the luxury of seeing the “creamsicle” colorway in person at my favorite sneaker boutique got Sole? in Indianapolis, IN and I was sold! These vibrant dunks use of orange, blue and pink complete with a gum sole has me saying is it spring break yet? Pick these up at your local Nike retailer now.

Kobe Bryant is the Black Mamba

Kobe Bryant is the black mamba. We've always known the nickname, and we're getting used to the sick kicks that look more and more snakelike (see the Kobe VI below).

But what's new and crazy is his upcoming short film, The Black Mamba, directed by renown director Robert Rodriguez (below), and starring Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and Kanye West (and Kobe himself, of course). He talked about how much fun it was making the film, and we got to see the 2nd trailer, now out on youtube (and below).

For an interview with Kobe about the movie, click here.

Storyboards from the movie...

A collage of Kobes (looking mighty Mike-like, isn't he?)

Kobe's new gear highlights his vision of leadership (above and below).

Unfortunately for LA, Kobe was the only one who came to battle against the Celtics! My first ever Lakers vs. Celtics game and it was GREAT. Go Celtics! 109-93.

Kobe's LA City Series

Graphic Designer Erick Goto, from East LA himself, talks about the East LA Hyperfuse

The Orange County Kobe VI.

Hollywood repped by some 3D Kobes!

East LA Pack

The whole LA City Series should come out in men's and youth sizes. All packs include Kobe VI, Hyperfuse (2), and AF1. The East LA Nike Zoom Kobe VI and Hyperfuse Lows have already released (and sold out in LA in no time flat). The Hollywood pack is set to release on February 9th, with the Orange County pack dropping on the 11th.

Nike Black History Month 2011

Every year, Nike drops a tribute collection for black history month. This year's collection includes AJ3, Converse star player, AF1 and a Zoom Kobe VI. Each sneaker is decked out in a black and gold colorway. Never really dug any of the Black history month's collection Nike has done but these are decent. They are simple and cohesive. Collection drops next month.

Nike Women's Lunarstorm

Okay, those of us in the Northeast of the ol' USA (not to mention other northern climates around the world), are beginning to worry about the upcoming bruising winter. You know how global warming melts glaciers and actually makes us colder for a while? That had me worried until these boots showed up. Now I'm looking forward to it! The best part (besides the cozy fuzz) is that they're lighter than you can imagine, many thanks to the lunarlon technology.

Available at the Nike Store online, $110, and starting at a women's 5. I'm sure they're popping up around town too...

P.S. Global warming still has me worried. Just not for my toes.
