http://skyley.blogspot.com/Traditionally our skiing season ends on labor weekend which is on October 23rd. But yesterday we had a bitterly cold snap. Snow flows could be expected down to 700-800m around Hawkes Bay and Gisborne.
Despite our spring season, we had blustery southerly winds, heavy rain and low temperatures. I was caught out by not wearing enough clothing as cold winds made it feel even colder.
The cold snap had been driven by a low front plaguing the South Island moving up the country.
