Viva La Biomimic Revolution!

I am currently in a special topics course in Anthropology that focuses around sustainability, including Biomimicry. Although this term is something completely new to me, it's definition has been applied to everyday things that surround all of us. Biomimicry is a concept created by Biomimicry Institute founder Janine Benyus which is is "the examination of nature, its models, systems, processes, and elements to emulate or take inspiration from in order to solve human problems sustainably" such as the aerodynamics of the Kingfisher above as a design module for Japan's bullet train. Although this concept has been around for ages, it is become a fast growing and more widely accepted principle for practice. Concerning problems in design are moving towards a more ecologically friendly standpoint- and that's something for everyone to get excited by since we only have one of these planets!
