The Duesenberg result was also significant in that it became the record for an American car sold at auction, eclipsing the 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe that Mecum Auctions sold for $7,685,000 in 2009.

Ron Pratte collection update, his collection is shown in a video that was used to show his sale of these four cars at Barrett Jackson auction this weekend

The current record is $1,127,500 paid for Tucker #1045 about 18 months ago. This Tucker is in much better condition.

1947 Bentley mark VI with coachwork by Franay, last offered for sale by Barrett-Jackson at their 2006 Palm Beach auction, where the hammer fell at $1,728,000

David Davis collection of automobilia up for auction at Bonhams

The collection being offered by Bonhams  http://www.bonhams.com/eur/auction/19680/

 includes nearly the entire contents of the whimsically decorated Ypsilanti, Mich., office where Davis spent his final years. Decorated from floor to ceiling with a dazzling array of automotive artwork, posters, scale model cars, bronze sculptures and much more,

Additionally, the contents of Davis’ extensive automotive library will also be offered, including many rare titles and first editions, many inscribed by the authors and various motorsport legends. 
 The entire collection will be offered without reserve.
The Bonhams Scottsdale Sale will take place Jan. 19, 2012 at the Westin Kierland Resort Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona
