Galaxy Foamposite Sample VS General Release

Footlocker has stated that February is the HOTTEST MONTH EVER for sneakers and they are right! Last weekend we kicked it off with the highly anticipated Metallic Red Foamposites aka #vdayfoams which had #snkrluvrs camped out for hours & days causing a frenzy everywhere like the December release of the Concord 11's. Also released were the Jordan Spi'Zike Bordeux's which seemed to be irrelevant for #snkrluvrs camped out for the #vdayfoams as seen in my KICKS ON THE LINE!!! episode where some even said they would rather buy the other release of the Jeremy Scott X Adidas "Wings" pack of Denim, US Flag, & leopard styles!February 25th will be another huge day for #snkrluvrs with the releases of All-Star game pairs for Kobe, Lebron, KD, and the pair everyone is talking about, the Galaxy Foams! When pics first hit the internet we saw Gentry Humphrey, formerly of Jordan Brand sitting in a chair showing these off..

For everyone, including myself who doesn't have 1 pair of Foams, these were a definite camp & cop! The display of the galaxy spread evenly on each shoe as well as the transparent sole made these hard not to think and talk about with fellow #snkrluvrs while counting the days down to the release! Now with the release 2 weeks away, the pics of the General Release version has surfaced and it is quite different from what we saw initially..

These are strikingly different! From what seems like an eggplant underlay and stars sprinkled over with a cloudy, glow in the dark sole. They still have appeal for the Galaxy theme, however these will not be my first pair of Foams because of the switch. I pass on Foams because I think they are especially catered to males with the bulky width of the sneaker, however the sample Galaxy pair made me pay attention and consider adding them to my collection. Reebok Chi-Kaze!!! Our own Kamikaze!!

With the great response from Swizz Beatz Kamikaze sneaker release, Reebok has answered our question about a Kamikaze just for us with the Chi-Kaze! Dropping next month at retailer Journey's for $90, there are 2 colorways that will release. The first being Steel/Flat Grey-Sonic Green, and the other which I happen to like very much is the Black/Pink/Blaze-Yellow. Both pairs feature the Kamikaze Hexalite outsole and reminiscent straps from the women's classic Freestyle. Expect to see more fresh colorways coming after the initial release!!

Salute to RUN DMC ADIDAS mixtape MICK BOOGIE

The recent release of the 25th anniversary pack which was limited to 1,986 pairs naturally reminds us all of RUN DMC's historic era in hip hop, topping charts and setting a trend of wearing Adidas to another level! Nice Kicks and DJ Mick Boogie pay homage with this mixtape featuring Skillz, Bun B, Big Pooh, DJ Jazzy Jeff and others remix the classics like Rock Box, Run's House, and one of my favs Beats to the rhyme!

The last stop of Sneaker Pimps tour came to an end Friday night at Irving Plaza, and sneaker lovers came out in their favorite kicks to represent! I wore Miami Nights Lebron 9's, Flower wore Foams, A$ wore denim SB's, Air Karina wore Doernbecher 4's with a matching custom tee, and Pinkeye wore Dominique Dawkins Pony's!!

Hosted by Dave Jeff with performances by Waka Flocka, Kendrick Lamar,who had a meet and greet earlier at Footaction, Jim Jones, Siya, Stalley and a few others, powered by FOOTACTION, this event had sneaker lovers gather collectively for a night of #snkrluv!! Check out MORE PICS and these videos!

Spike Lee signs Spi'Zikes at Footaction!

This was a hell of a weekend for sneaker releases!! This particular one for the highly anticipated NY Knicks colorways of orange and blue was extra special to lucky New Yorkers who shop at Footaction on 34th St. because Spike Lee stopped by to talk about the release, upcoming projects, working with Tinker hatfield & Michael Jordan to create the Spi'Zike, and signing every pair purchased along with raffling off 2 pair! Latest custom sneaker designs!!! HELLO KITTY & SMURFETTE AF1!!!

Last week was so crazy with sneaker events that I didnt have a chance to show you my latest designs!! Both pair were for one customer..the Smurfette's for her daughter's birthday coming up, and the Hello Kitty's for her neice that loves my designs! John Wall X Reebok ZigEncore release

Sorry for the delay on this, but the posts to follow will explain why..GRINDING!!! On Wednesday, Washington Wizard's John Wall stopped by Footlocker on 34th St. to unveil and talk about his latest collab with Reebok, for the new ZigEncore which is a nice follow up to the ZigTech Slash. Wall invited kids from the Parks & Recreation Dept. and they all had on a pair of his new sneakers and apparel! HOT97 DJ Funkmaster Flex was on the 1 and 2 and asked John various questions about the shoe.

Available in 2 colorways of black/white or blue/white, these sneakers are lighter and more fashionable than the 1st pair from John Wall last year. The toebox is perforated on both pair; the black ones is nubuck, while the white pair is leather. The rest of the upper consists of leather and breathable mesh with patent leather piping on the black pair. Wall even raffled a few pair and gave up the pair on his feet, all with autographs!!

The epic moment at the event was when a kid got up to ask a question and did the Dougie for Wall, who is known for doing the dance himself; then joining the kid in the dance!! He drove the audience crazy with that! Check out MORE PICS!!!

SPARC your sneakers customizing event - Roxtoberfest RECAP!!

I AM BACK!!! It's been a while, yes, however I have been busy with orders and events like the one i am blogging about today. This past weekend myself and Pinkeye were invited up to Boston to participate in Mass Art's customizing event for Roxtoberfest at DS4SI (Design Studio 4 Social Intervention) along with other great Boston artists and people from Boston stopping in to see the studio! We were given our choice of either a pair of crispy white canvas Chucks, or the newest vinyl toy, STANCE, a blank sneaker canvas! Most of us chose the Chucks, and the coordinator of the event asked that the pair I customized be done for her granddaughter, which was such an honor!

Pinkeye's rendition of Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin episode just in time for Halloween, and my       design for Mass Art's Euka Holmes' granddaughter, Song.

To keep our motivation going, Public Kitchens provided us with some very tasty vegan food including their infamous jalapeno cornbread!

REETHYM OF LITE launch party!

Tonight was the biggest sneaker party ever!!! With Swizz Beatz as Global Director, Reebok can't go wrong!!! The celebration was called "Reethym of Light" which is truly light, available in the Classic Light or Leather Classic Light. The event took place on 42nd St. at E Space, which is a cool spot. Celebrities from music, fashion, and film all came out to support Swizz Beatz and Reebok's new takeover campaign! In attendance were of course Alicia Keys, Maino, Red Cafe, Jonathan Mannion, Teyana Taylor, Chuck Nice, Jay Z & Beyonce, Pharell, Lloyd Banks, and a host of others who love the Kamikaze sneaker as well as Reebok itself!

Iniside the event were Basquiat t-shirts and Kamikaze's on display, as well as snack servers and a Hennessy bar with my favorite drink of the night..the Black Kamikaze! The event was packed from wall to wall with sneaker & music lovers to support Swizzy & Reebok. Around 10:30 Swizzy took stage and did a few of his hits like Who's Real, On the floor, Coolin, and his new hit International Party, which he premiered the video for too! There were many with Kamikaze's, Pumps, and Classics on, which shows that Reebok is truly a mainstay and has sneakers for just about anyone! Check out the pics below and MORE PICS HERE

Another favorite time of year for me is June..the beginning of summer, HOT97 Summer Jam, and the National Puerto Rican Day Parade!!! This year I wanted to take it to another level with the kicks and decided not to do a flag, but something else within spanish culture that everyone could easily identify and appreciate..Sazon Dunks!!! I even used the shoebox to design the pair's own float like the ones everyone loves along the parade route! Yesterday was the pre-parade 116th St. festival in Harlem, so I took them out with me and they were an immediate hit with everyone!
