In all stable objects and moving beings.I as a child,just born of sleep,firmly desire,and honestly pray that,may all my deeds,in the course of the day,be done for your sake only,and therefore,most pleasing to you,O Lord! whatever is uttered,thought of and done by me,during the day ,is all done by your inner promptings only.

Hence,may all that be sanctified as a sacred offering to you like oblation in a sacrifice,may nothing that I do,give pain to my teachers and other beings,and let no actions of others harm me in any way. Amen!

THE NEW POLITICAL SCIENCE

This years NCERT published text books on Political Science are visually pleasing,the design and inputs make it a learners delight.There is US hegemony in the design and presentation .These books are akin to the text books of US schools published during the 70s.Anyway the material is less ,exercise questions contains "Fill in the Blanks"&"Match the Following" .De-stressing the students and introducing them to the new tools of learning is a good idea,but we should not forget the basics.Unni and Munni teache the children to think.We expect more text books like this in other subjects,so that learning becomes more fun.

NOKIA FAULTY BATTERIES

Dear Nokia Customer,

This is a product advisory for the Nokia-branded BL-5C battery manufactured by Matsushita Battery Industrial Co. Ltd. of Japan between December 2005 and November 2006. This product advisory does not apply to any other Nokia battery.

Nokia has identified that in very rare cases the affected batteries could potentially experience over heating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge. Nokia is working closely with relevant local authorities to investigate this situation.

Nokia has several suppliers for BL-5C batteries that have collectively produced more than 300 million BL-5C batteries. This advisory applies only to the 46 million batteries manufactured by Matsushita between December 2005 and November 2006. There have been approximately 100 incidents of over heating reported globally. No serious injuries or property damage have been reported.

Consumers with a BL-5C battery subject to this advisory should note that all of the approximately 100 incidents have occurred while charging the battery. According to Nokia's knowledge this issue does not affect any other use of the mobile device. Concerned consumers may want to monitor a mobile device while charging that contains a BL-5C battery subject to this product advisory.

While the occurrence in the BL-5C batteries produced by Matsushita in the time-period specified is very rare, for consumers wishing to do so, Nokia and Matsushita offer to replace any BL-5C battery subject to this product advisory.

The BL-5C batteries which are subject to the product advisory were used with the following Nokia models or separately as accessories:

हमीद Ansari is Vice-President

In a quieter replay of the presidential election, the UPA-Left on Friday had their candidate Mohammad Hamid Ansari elected as Vice-President through a margin higher than the aggregate vote bank of the ruling combine in the two Houses of Parliament.

The UPA-Left had 441 committed votes but the former diplomat romped home with 455 of the 762 votes polled. BJP-led NDA candidate Najma Heptullah was a distant second with 222, while the Third Front’s Rashid Masood secured only 75 votes. There were 10 invalid votes.

“I am aware of the responsibilities of the post. I will endeavour to fulfil these responsibilities to the satisfaction of all,” Ansari told newspersons on being delivered the notification of his election. Ansari will be administered the oath of office by President Pratibha Patil on Saturday. He will take charge as Rajya Sabha chairman on Monday.-H.T

A student at Eagle Rock Junior High won first prize at the Greater Idaho Falls Science Fair. He was attempting to show how conditioned we have become to alarmists practicing junk science and spreading fear of everything in our environment. In his project he urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical "dihydrogen monoxide."

And for plenty of good reasons, since:


1. it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
2. it is a major component in acid rain
3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
4. accidental inhalation can kill you
5. it contributes to erosion
6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients

He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.


* Forty-three (43) said yes,
* Six (6) were undecided,
* Only one (1) knew that the chemical was water.

The title of his prize winning project was, "How Gullible Are We?"

He feels the conclusion is obvious.

Four unnatural deaths in Sikkim

GANGTOK, Aug 5: Four unnatural deaths were reported in Sikkim during last 24 hours. While two students died at Ravangla in South Sikkim, two junior engineers died here last night.
The two deceased students have been identified as Pramod Chhetri (19) and Kamal Sharma (17). Both of them got drowned while swimming in Cho-Dzo lake on the outskirts of Ravangla yesterday. The duo were the class XII students of VC Ganju Senior Secondary School.
“Seven students were playing volleyball after school hours near Cho-Dzo lake. They later went for swimming. Seeking Pramod drowning in the lake, Kamal went to help him. Later both of them drowned in the lake,” police said.
In another incident, two junior engineers ~ Bikash Pradhan (35) and Jiwan Gurung (40) ~ died after they fell down from a four-storeyed hotel building here last night. The victims were working as junior engineers with rural management and development department, the police, added.
According to the police, the incident occurred during a farewell party at Dew Pond hotel here. The party was organised by Jiwan Gurung. as organized by Mr. Gurung. All were out after over of party but these two had checked out later. “The duo probably fell down from the building in a drunken state,” the police added. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident, they said.
