Lily pad photos taken in the Tropical "Winter Gardens" at the Auckland Domain. You see the reflection of the glass roof or the metal frame in the water.
We were at Bethals beach, in the West of Auckland. here are lifeguards in training. I presume many of them are volunteers. With these surf guards, you better not talk to them because the rip is very dangerous. One of our very famous rugby player Sonny Fai died there.
I remember I was once with my girl friend Ewah just frolicking in the surf. We were holding hands and jumping about as each surf came in at Piha beach. This is another very dangerous beach. One moment, we were holding hands and jumping, another moment, I was struggling for my life. I couldn't tread the sea bed, and Ewah saw me being swept out to the ocean. Luckily a tall handsome and strong man grabbed hold of my hand and dragged me back to shore. Alas I was choking with water and I never got to ask his name. I am not even sure if he was just a swimmer or my surf guard. He just disappeared and my dream popped just like that.
Last summer, I was in the Surfers' Paradise in Australia. Again I had another encounter with a life guard. He came to admonish me for taking my son and his friends for swimming too deep.
The best group of life guards who actually had time for me was in a private pool. My kids were learning to swim, and I sat with them yakking away. I asked if I was disturbing them. They said, their eyes and eyes were very sharp. While they were talking to me, their eyes and ears were focus on the pool. So, they were not really paying attention to me? LOL
So I do two songs here, I wanna be a life guard and Don't talk to the life guard.
hootin--anni has a new meme. IT'S ALL ABOUT MY NEW MEME THAT I HOPE SOME WILL FEEL LIKE JOINING IN ON THE CHALLENGE AND THE FUN [at least I hope the weekly challenge will be fun!]. It's loosely based on song lyrics [recorded songs since the beginning of time to today] and associating them with photos of yours...as I've done in the past...If you click on the link above, it'll take you to the Meme's Homepage for rules and buttons. There will be a Mr. Linky Widget for each individual week also. Do consider joining me sometime. Hope to see it flourish in time. http://hootin--anni.blogspot.com/
Selling shoes Another loser working in a shopping mall 9 to 5 A slave driver telling me 'Get on the ball!' A crowded store I kneel before them Misery beyond compare Sweaty socks A lady boxer What's she got against fresh air? I want an ocean and some sunscreen lotion Take me to the beach with a thousand pretty girls in reach
CHORUS I, I, I wanna be a lifeguard (help, help, help, help) I, I, I wanna guard your life I, I, I wanna be a lifeguard (lifeguard, lifeguard) Hardly any clothes (lifeguard) Sand between my toes (lifeguard) White stuff on my nose
Selling shoes Another loser working in a shopping mall I'm getting fat What does it matter? Nobody cares at all But next July, I'll say goodbye to every out-of-it, dull-witted fool Convert their feet into meters, marking distance at the swimming pool Summer blondes revealing tanlines I'll make more moves than Allied Van Lines
CHORUS I, I, I wanna be a lifeguard (be a big man, now... get a great tan, now) I, I, I wanna guard your life I, I, I wanna be a lifeguard (lifeguard, lifeguard) Sitting on my chair (lifeguard) In the salty air (lifeguard) White stuff on my nose I, I, I wanna be a lifeguard (help, help, help, help) I, I, I wanna guard your life I, I, I wanna be a lifeguard (lifeguard, lifeguard) Lounging on the deck (lifeguard) Whistle 'round my neck (lifeguard) White stuff in my nose I, I, I wanna be a lifeguard (lifeguard, lifeguard)
Please Don't Talk To The Lifeguard Lyrics Please don't talk to the lifeguard Please don't talk to the lifeguard Says the sign where I go to swim, oh-oh-oh-oh How can I get to know him? How can I get to show him That I am so much in love with hi-i-im
Dark and handsome, golden tan Six feet tall, man-oh-man! Gotta make him mine, all mine Wish theyd take away that sign
Please don't talk to the lifeguard Please don't talk to the lifeguard Guess I'll swim way out into the sea And then I'll meet him when he rescues me-e-e
Since it is Christmas and John Lennon's anniversary, I am doing a double post for this week.

Santa brought me an early present, Postman Alan. I had been wanting to do this song ever since Annie started this meme. Each time, I see a postie, I am too late.
It reminds me of the time when my oldest daughter was four, and our family was the only one in the extended family living in New Zealand. We had to walk a steep footpath to check our letter box, and I taught her this song, well, part of it.
On the 8th, she turned 26, and I go to check my letter box hoping Mr. Postman has brought something for me from her. Because according to some Chinese customs, a mum gets a present on her child's birthday. Alas, these days of the internet, Mr. Postman Alan only brings me bills and the occasional card from Aunts and Uncles who still use the snail mail.
I saw this postman cycle past and I ran after him. He was very obliging when I told him why I wanted to take his photo.
(Please, Mister Postman, look and see) Woah, yeah (Is there’s a letter in your bag for me) Please, please Mister Postman (Cause it’s been a mighty long time) Woah, yeah (Since I`ve heard from this boyfriend of mine)
There must be some word today From my boyfriend so far away Please Mister Postman, look and see Is there a letter, a letter for me
I’ve been standing here Waiting, Mister Postman So, oh, so patiently For just a card or just a letter Saying he’s returning home to me
Please, Mister Postman (Please, Mister Postman, look and see) Woah, yeah (Is there's a letter in your bag for me) Please, please Mister Postman (Cause it's been a mighty long time) Woah, yeah (Since I've heard from this boyfriend of mine)
So many days, you passed me by You saw the tear standing in my eyes You wouldn't stop to make me feel better By leaving me a card or a letter
Please, Mister Postman, look and see Is there a letter, oh, yeah In your bag for me You know it's been so long Yes, since I've heard from This boyfriend of mine
You better wait a minute, wait a minute (Wait, wait a minute, Mister Postman) Oh, you better wait a minute (Wait, wait a minute, Mister Postman) Please, please, Mister Postman (Wait, wait a minute, Mister Postman) Please check it and see Just one more time for me
You gotta wait (wait) Wait a minute (wait a minute, Mister Postman) Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute (Wait, wait a minute, Mister Postman) Please, Mister Postman (Wait, wait a minute, Mister Postman)
Deliver the letter The sooner the better Wait a minute, wait a minute (Wait, wait a minute, Mister Postman) Wait a minute, please Mister Postman...
