I went on Friday to go see "The Rum Diary" starring Johnny Depp, Aaron Eckhart and Amber Heard which was shot on location in Puerto Rico. I figured it would be cool for inspiration Puerto Rico in the 60's which was a great time for style. The movie did have beautiful backdrops of Puerto Rico but it also had the most poorest looking decadent locations as well. The portrayal of Puerto Rico and the people, I felt was completely offensive being Puerto Rican myself. The movie made Puerto Ricans look like savages from the beginning to end. So f#@k Hunter S. Thompson for that but Amber Heard looked great in this movie with a Marilyn Monroe-esque party girl vibe. My favorite scene is the one pictured above of Johnny Depp checking her out through those circular wall fixtures. Giovanni Ribisi looked terrible in this movie and some of the characters were very annoying including Johnny Depp's flunky/right hand man in the movie. Bad movie but great looking scenes mixed in with the worst. The little car scene was funny as hell though with Johnny Depp sitting on his friends lap.
